A MESSAGE FROM THE TREASURER
A REMINDER ABOUT REMINDERS
Reminder slips have always been placed in ALL copies of the Spring R08. If you have already paid, or pay through the Bank or are exempt (widows & life members) please IGNORE the reminder.
With regards to this years slips, they should have read "Payment welcome from 1st January" NOT DUE 1st JANUARY. I was just trying to spread the load out.
I refer myself & all members to our CONSTITUTION RULE 11 SUBSCRIPTIONS:
"Annual subscriptions shall fall due on the 1st MAY EACH YEAR & are to be paid within 3 months of that date. Any member who fails to pay their subs. within 3 months of that date shall be deemed to be a lapsed member until such time as the due sum has been paid".
My sincere apologies for any confusion & inconvenience I have caused by this years slips.
2020 ASSOCIATION CHARITY DONATION
The committee unanamously decided that the £250 donation should add to Captain Tom Moore's NHS Charities Fund. This was gratefully received.
Treasurer Tiny Ashton sent this message with the money.
"From HMS Bulwark, Albion & Centaur Association. Proud to support a fellow veteran & the NHS. Well done Sir!"
PLEASE BE AWARE
ANYONE ABOUT TO APPLY FOR FUNDING FOR HEARING AIDS FROM THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION HEARING FUND
Before Christmas I had submitted the first set of forms together with copies of Service Papers. My Audiologist then informed me that no further funds were available as all the LIBOR funds are spent! Thus, there was no point sending in the second set of forms etc. The Audiologist said she would file them in case more funds became available. Though this is very doubtful.
However, I have shot myself in the foot as I have purchased a set of aids at greatly reduced price. These have not arrived from head office yet. At present I am using a temporary set which is not suitable! Having purchased new aids, I am not eligible for retrospective funding!!
A letter dated 08/01/20 is attached from the Royal British Legion explaining the situation.
All the best,
Chris Price SBN 2512
